THE LRC is working with all community groups to raise funds and to build the quad BALL DIAMONDS, adjacent to Buy-Low Foods.  The next project, which is actively being worked on, is an INDOOR RECREATION CENTRE, which will include an ICE ARENA / DRY PAD with walking track, MULTI-PURPOSE ROOMS, FITNESS FACILITIES and space for SENIORS and YOUTH GROUPS to partake in activities.

November 19, 2019
Provincial funding for new Langdon High School announced by Rocky view Schools.  Read about it in the Chestermere Anchor.

September 21, 2018
The LRC is now able to accept donations online via "ATB Cares".  ATB will match a portion of donations, and you will instantly receive an electronic CHARITABLE RECEIPT for income tax purposes! 

The current project being supported by LRC is the QUAD BALL DIAMOND complex on the Langdon Community Campus.  For more information about this project, please visit our partner website (North Bow Community Facility Board).  100% of your donations will be directed to the ball diamond project.  

Once this project has been funded, the LRC will direct all funds to the indoor facility, which will be built on the same site (adjacent to the proposed Langdon High School).  This project will include an ice rink, multi-purpose rooms, track and fitness centre.

September 7th, 2017
The Langdon Recreation Centre has been granted Charitable Status by CRA!

July 11th, 2017
Rocky View County Council approved $3.826MM in funding to complete the servicing for the Langdon Joint Use Site (Community Campus).  This is in addition to the funding announced by the Rocky View School Division on February 14th in the amount of $2.42MM.  The Community Campus will be home to the Langdon High School, Ball Diamonds, and indoor recreation centre (ice rink and amenities).

Rocky View County Policies and Priorities Committee classified the Langdon Joint Use Site as a REGIONAL FACILITY.  

February 14th, 2017
Langdon High School Site Development
[Rocky View School Division] Trustees voted, Feb. 9, 2017, in favour of spending up to $2,423,185 from the cash-in-lieu fund for construction of site services at the future high school site in Langdon. In 2006, Rocky View Schools and Rocky View County jointly acquired 45 acres of land on the southern boundary of Langdon with plans to develop it to accommodate a future high school and recreation facilities. That property was swapped with an adjacent land-holder in 2012 to provide frontage onto Railway Ave. for the school/recreation parcel. Engineering estimates for site preparation – including access road, services, surface work, ball diamond, playing fields and storm water facility – are $6.2 million, with RVS’ share of that cost being $3 million.

January 10th, 2017
Rocky View County Council today approved a funding request from the LRC to install security cameras and a security system at the Langdon outdoor rink.  This is in response to vandalism at the ODR skate shacks constructed last year.

November 18th, 2016
CBC Radio One was in Langdon to host their morning show "The Eye Opener" at the Prairie Grounds coffee house.  The CBC interviewed Lisa Baker as a representative of the Langdon Community Collaborative, and also Rolly Ashdown as our County Councillor.  Lisa and Rolly discussed the growing need for recreation facilities and amenities in Langdon!  The Podcast can be found HERE!

October 25th, 2016
Rocky View County Council approved funding for preliminary access and servicing of the Langdon Joint Use Site (where the future High School, Ball Diamonds, and Recreation Centre will be located)!

September 8th, 2016
The Langdon Energizer Night was held, providing a forum for all community groups to showcase the many recreation and cultural opportunities available in our Hamlet.  See the Rocky View Weekly article here!

January 25th, 2016:
The 2nd Annual Langdon Cup 3-on-3 Fundraiser Pond Hockey Tournament was a huge success!  The weather was great, the teams competed hard and in the end, "Smoke & Mirrors" walked away with the trophy!  Thanks to everyone who came out to support this fun community event.

August 16th, 2015:
Youth Ball Hockey Registration is now closed.

July 18th, 2015:
The LRC entered our float into the annual Langdon Days parade.  Great to see all the kids out again this year!  

June 10th, 2015:
The Rocky View County hosted another Langdon ASP open house.  More info can be found on the RVC website.

April 13th, 2015:
Rocky View County provided an update regarding the ongoing Recreation & Culture Master Plan.  Read the update here.

January 13th, 2015:
Rocky View County Council approved $5,000 in funding to the LRC, which will be used to help offset costs of upcoming programs, as well as annual accounting and legal services.

December 30th, 2014:
The Strathmore Times newspaper published an article about the funding and future development on the Langdon Community Campus.  Read the article here!

December 5-6th, 2014:
The first annual Langdon Cup 3-ON-3 ADULT HOCKEY TOURNAMENT was a huge success.  Congratulations to "The Flying Pylons" for winning the 'A' event, and to the LRC team for winning the 'B' event.  Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the hockey, the fireworks, craft show, kids hockey, sleigh rides and hot chocolate!  We'll do it all over again next year!  Check out the 3-on-3 page for pictures from the event.


December 2nd, 2014:
The Rocky View County Policy & Priorities Committee received a presentation of the draft Recreation & Culture Master Plan.  Follow this link to read the Executive Summary of the Plan.

November 16th, 2014:
The LRC held its first annual AGM on November 16th.  A new Executive and Board of Directors was established.  We thank all ongoing and outgoing members for their commitment and service over the past year and a half.  We are truly looking forward to making even more progress in the upcoming year!

November 10th, 2014:
The Rocky View Weekly published an article covering the LRC presentation to Rocky View County's Policy & Priorities Committee (PPC) on November 4th.  The presentation was based on the recently finalized Feasibility Study.  Read the RVW article here!

The LRC presented the findings from the Feasibility Study to the Rocky View County Policy & Priorities Committee (PPC). 

October 21st, 2014:
The Langdon Recreation Centre presented the Langdon Recreation Feasibility Study to the Bow North Rec Board.  The Study can be found on our website for review.  The North Bow Community Facility Board (NBCFB) also presented to the Rec Board requesting funds to initiate wetlands compensation to gain access to the Langdon Community Campus.  This funding was approved, and is a very exciting time for the Langdon community.

October 20th, 2014:
Rocky View Schools Board of Trustees unanimously approved $300,000 funding to be used toward site preparation on the Langdon Community Campus, which will be the future home of the Langdon Rec Centre and Langdon High School!  Check out the Rocky View Weekly article here!

September 23rd, 2014:
The LRC and the North Bow Community Facility Board (NBCFB) have signed a mutual statement of cooperation to help define our roles for developing recreation amenities in Langdon.  This is an important milestone for the LRC, the NBCFB, and for the entire community of Langdon!

September 8th, 2014:
The Rocky View Weekly reported on the Council meeting where the Langdon Recreation Special Tax Funding was discussed.  This funding is a very good start toward properly funding recreation needs in Langdon moving forward.

July 19th, 2014:
The LRC participated in the Langdon Days parade.  It was amazing to see the number of people out to see the parade, especially all those young kids!

July 7th, 2014:

June 10th, 2014:
Rocky View County has released the "Phase One and Two Community Engagement Report" for the Recreation Master Plan. 

May 31st, 2014:
The Langdon & District Chamber of Commerce and the Langdon Recreation Centre hosted "The Langdon Historian Dinner, Picture Show & Dance".  The evening was a ride through Langdon's past and was well attended by both new Langdonites, and by those whose families were original settlers in the area.  We look forward to preserving Langdon's heritage within the walls of the future recreation centre!

May 8th, 2014
In preparation for the opening of the LRC Basketball camp, Basketball Alberta instructors were in Langdon last week to run a coaching certification program.  The LRC camp opens tomorrow, and we are happy to report that the camp is FULL!

January 19th, 2014:
THANKS TO EVERYONE who came out to the Rocky View County's Master Recreation & Culture Plan public workshop on January 29th!  There was a lot of good discussion around what the future of recreation & culture should look like in Rocky View County, and where amenities should be located. 

At the workshop, Langdon and all of Division 4 was VERY well represented - of the 50 people in attendance, about 3/4 were from our area.... when we rally behind a common cause, our voices ARE heard! 
 
There will be more opportunity for you to provide input to the Plan through an online poll being conducted by Rocky View County.  We will pass along the details when they become available.

We would like to send out a HUGE Thank You to the Chestermere/Langdon Oilmen's Association for a very fun and successful 1st Annual Holiday Party at the Boulder Creek Golf Course on Friday Dec. 13th. The proceeds will be going to the Langdon Recreation Centre.

November 5th, 2013:  
Rocky View County Council approved funding for the Langdon Recreation Centre - Feasibility Study & Strategic Planning Document!  This Study is expected to be complete in February, 2014!
