"LET'S BUILD IT!"
LRC GRANTED CHARITABLE STATUS
The Langdon Recreation Centre has been granted Charity status with CRA! This will prove to be a huge benefit to upcoming fundraising campaigns, as well as ongoing operation of the recreation facility! The LRC was conceived and formed by a group of passionate volunteers in the Langdon community who recognize the need for Recreation facilities. Many of our members have been living in the Langdon community for over 10 years.
PURPOSE OF THE LRC
"To build, administer and maintain a multi-use recreational athletics facility for the benefit of the Langdon community and the greater Bow North Recreation District".
The LRC is committed to building and operating an indoor Recreation complex in Langdon on the Langdon Community Campus. This facility will serve the community for generations to come, and act as a cornerstone upon which Langdon will develop as a self-sustainable and vibrant rural community.
LANGDON COMMUNITY COLLABORATIVE
The LRC is a founding member of the Langdon Community Collaborative group. The LCC was formed to bring all Langdon community groups together to identify, prioritize, fundraise and build the amenities that Langdon needs. Here is a link to the LCC website for more info.
Based on prior feasibility studies, and based on the work done by the LCC over the past three years, the LRC is committed to building the following amenities, in the Phases identified below:
PHASE 1:
* Indoor ice rink (dry-pad in off-season) - leave ability to easily twin for future need
* Walking Track
* Fitness Facility
* Community meeting rooms
* Senior's group gathering area
* Minor Sport offices
* Commercial Space (Physio, Daycare, Martial Arts, etc.)
* Cafe / Concession
PHASE 2:
* Banquet facility that can be segregated to provide flexible space for community groups (including a theatre stage),
* Second Ice Sheet (twin)
This suite of amenities will ensure sustainability and help fund future phases of expansion (gymnasium, indoor field, aquatics etc). Furthermore, this facility will meet many of the existing and growing demands of the Langdon community and surrounding areas.
